Shortly after Mayra revealed the truth, her sister Jaime fled the country and was on the run for two and a half years. Eventually, Jaime was tracked down by a private investigator who was hired by an American media company that was working on creating a documentary based on Mayra’s life.

Jaime was found in Veracruz, Mexico and was summoned back to the States. She was later sentenced to 15 years of prison time for causing the death of her son.
