In 2012, Azalea was caught in a major controversy after the release of her song “D.R.U.G.S”. The lyrics of the song led people to believe that she is racist and careless to say something like that. Here’s the controversial lyrics: “When the relay starts, I’m a runaway slave / Master.”

Many people even started questioning her realness, and claimed that it was all just for show to which Azalea responded:
“I’m also not going to sit on Twitter & play hip-hop squares with strangers to somehow prove I deserve to be a fan of or influenced by hip-hop.”
