Jay-Z loves to give back, especially to those that are dear to him. As generous as he is though we recently learned that the rumors surrounding the rapper and his philanthropic efforts setting up a $15m trust fund for Nipsey Hussle’s family was indeed just that a RUMOR and nothing more.
Our sources, notably, MediaTakeout and others that posted this article originally have since modified their work and covered up their original false reporting.
Unfortunately we should have not rushed to use them as original sources for our article without doing more diligence research. This was brought to our attention by our friends at Politifact.
Nipsey and Jay-Z were friends and business partners for more than five years. Rumor has it that the two hit it off when Jay-Z bought 100 out of the 1000 Crenshaw mixtapes that Nipsey had created, which were free online.
Reports say that the two were working on some big business deals together before Nipsey’s untimely death.
But don’t get it twisted. Nipsey was a great businessman and was Puma’s creative director for a portion of last year. He’s also made frequent appearances in GQ and rumor has it that he had a net worth of $8 million before he died. And that doesn’t include the money he had saved up for his family.
After he passed, his music sales skyrocketed, with reports saying by over 2200%. This means that his family will no doubt get a cut out of it.
When we reported this it seemed to be some really good news in a time where everything seems to be a bit dark for the family. We meant no harm or disrespect and we are sure none was taken.
