The kidnapper’s initial demand was $6,000 for the couple’s release, but when their family put together the money to pay off, they increased the ransom amount.
The couple’s family revealed that the kidnappers later increased the demand to $400,000.

“Once we sent that money, they tried to up the price to $200,000 per person and we don’t have that type of money,” Christie told WPLG.
