Seeing the bones, Daniel Fisher and his students were all smiles as they were able to confirm exactly where they came from. As it turned out, they were from an ancient wooly mammoth! Although remnants of these colossal animals have already been found, this one was unique because it was fully intact.
Archaeologists rarely find remnants of the past to be in such superb condition, so this find was a thrilling one. However, the pristine nature of the wooly mammoth’s remains presented a new problem: how could they exhume and transfer these artifacts from farm to lab without breaking them?
