James didn’t stop digging until he was able to grab something, clean the dirt off it and get a proper look at what he was dealing with. Once the object revealed itself to James, he knew it wasn’t just an ordinary stone or a tree root; it was a bone. He wasn’t sure if it was ancient or recent, but he knew it wasn’t like any bone he’d ever seen before.
Though he had no background in classifying such things, James assessed his find and came to the conclusion that it looked like the rib bone of a huge animal; a creature so enormous it certainly didn’t come from this era. One look at the massive bone and it was abundantly clear that it couldn’t have come from a horse, cow, or any other creature you’d expect to find in a farmer’s field. Realizing that there were probably more clues in the dig site, James continued to search for more clues.
