In 1987, there was a sudden upsurge in the mining industry and a lot of boom towns popped up. One such town was named Berlin, located in Nevada (not in Germany). Unfortunately, the mining boom only lasted for a short while and easy come, easy go – the town was left abandoned in 1911.
As the residents and miners from the town moved on to other places, no one was left to maintain it or develop it into something new. Currently, it remains a part of Nevada State Park where visitors can explore its ruins and see for themselves what a boom town looked like.
