Monica and Shannon had one daughter together, Laiyah Shannon, 5 years old. She also has two sons from a past engagement, and Brown has another son from a previous relationships. A few years ago, she talked with Essence about the importance of being a good example for the kids:
“You have to think of the children first at all times and the reality is, if it’s not about them it’s not up for discussion. We have to tuck our feeling in as a blended family and say ‘okay what would be best’ and what’s the best way.”
We hope they could stay civil for their daughter.
