In January 2018, Ma wrote on her Instagram about why it is so important to support the “Time’s Up” movement. She has also spoken about witnessing abuse and how unfortunate it is. She wrote, “I grew up in a time (and in a home) where abuse of women was the norm.”
“It was common & like nothing for a woman in my family to have a black eye from her partner or to hear a story about how one of them had been sexually abused by a family member or ‘friend,’” she continued.
