One Year Later, Will Smith Hints At Infamous Oscar SLAP via TikTok! (Is He Over His APOLOGY Phase?)

By | February 22, 2023

Smith has discussed the infamous slap a few times before but never in a funny way.

The first time he spoke publicly about The Slap was the day after the Oscars, calling his behavior “unacceptable and inexcusable.”Then he spoke about the ruction four months later via a six-minute video explaining his behavior.

“I am deeply remorseful, and I’m trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself,” the award-winning actor said at the time. “I’m human, and I made a mistake, and I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of s—.”

Smith’s outburst even cost him and the team of Emancipation a huge loss. The film was bound for success but the incident overshadowed the upcoming film negatively and heavily impacted its reception.

“The only discomfort my heart has around that is that so many people have done spectacular work on this film,” Smith said about Emancipation’s performance. “I definitely lose a couple winks of sleep every night thinking that I could have potentially penalized my team, but I’m going to do everything I can to make sure everyone gets seen in the light that they deserve.”

But a YEAR later, when people are gearing up for the 95th Academy Awards set to take place next month, Will Smith took a moment to remind everyone of THE SLAP and the fact that he ACTUALLY won his very first Oscar award the same night.
