At such a young age, Damian was already lending his time and efforts to help raise many baby gorillas. This is why he was able to establish quite a bond with these loving primates. He even went so far as saying that he considered them to be just like his own children.
Two males gorillas named Ima and Djalta were the ones who made the most memorable mark in his heart. Both were to be released back into the wild. Damian is a firm believer that all animals deserve to be happy, just like humans, and indeed all sentient beings. Saving their lives wasn’t just about taking care of their needs, it was also about considering what would make them happy.
