Being the person who took care of Djalta and Ima, Damian decided he would approach the two primates first. While this plan was logical, it still had its risks. It had been 14 long years since the pair had seen Damian. A lot can change in that time, so there was no assurance they’d recognize him at all.
Damian didn’t want to draw the boat closer to the gorillas as the motor might startle them, so he traversed the space between them by foot, braving the waist-high river. He slowly walked towards the gorillas, and you’ll never guess what happened next.
