Gorillas are naturally timid creatures. In the wild, they avoid human contact as much as possible. But that doesn’t mean they won’t defend themselves if they feel threatened or confused. They are, after all, some of the most powerful animals on Earth. The last thing you want to do is provoke one.
One wrong move and you can incite fear or anger, either of which can incite violent behavior. Doing something to surprise a gorilla, whatever your intent, may be mistaken as an act of aggression.
