While Jorgensen had some initial misgivings about making the documentary, he was eventually convinced after learning more about Robertson. He felt that it was important to share the man’s story with the world. The film was also a great way to raise more awareness about American soldiers who may have been left behind in Vietnam, some of whom could still be living in secrecy, despite the many decades that have passed since the end of the war.
Jorgensen told the press about his research on John Hartley Robertson in an interview in 2014. He recalled finding out about a top-secret helicopter rescue mission that the Pentagon organized in the 1960s. He was convinced that Robertson was a part of this mission. However, aside from a few statements made by people when the helicopter crashed, he could not find any other information regarding Robertson.
