A Much-Awaited Reunion

Robertson expressed his desire to travel to the United States to be reunited with his family and friends. He had been away for so many decades, and he was longing to see them again. Before this could ever happen, though, he first needed to visit the US Embassy to verify his identity.

Robertson’s sister, who had not seen her brother for more than four decades, was among those eagerly awaiting his return. Plans for a much-awaited reunion stalled due to all the red tape involved, but then Canadian photojournalist and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Michael Jorgensen got involved. He sent a man named Hugh Tranh to Vietnam in 2012 to bring Robertson to Canada to be reunited with his friends and family.
