This isn’t the first time that Lifetime didn’t get it right when it comes to casting “Black” roles. Like many other networks, there seems to be an issue with diversity, especially when it comes to Black character portrayal. The characters are either white or the lightest shade of “Black.”

In 2007, Angelina Jolie played the role of an Afro-Cuban woman in “A Mighty Heart,” British actor Joseph Fiennes, played the role of Michael Jackson in “Elizabeth, Michael, and Marlon.” The “whitewashing” is not going to stop anytime soon.
