As Storm approached the edge of the shoreline, Mark was able to get a closer look at the animal in the dog’s mouth. To his surprise, the drowning animal turned out to be a small deer. While deer have a natural instinct for swimming, this baby was apparently too young and struggled in the deep, cold water.
Given that Storm is a Golden Retriever, Mark believes the dog acted purely on instinct when he jumped into the water and saved the baby deer. Regardless of whether it was an act of compassion for a fellow creature or a basic animal urge, Mark couldn’t help but be impressed.
