Ben Crump, the family’s lawyer, wrote a book titled, “Open Season: Legalized Genocide of Colored People,” which was released in October [2019]. Martin’s father, Tracy Martin, various witnesses as well as members of the prosecution team all contributed to the award-winning novel.

With the news of the lawsuit, the family’s lawyer released a statement calling the lawsuit a “shameless attempt to profit off the lives and grief of others… The plaintiff continues to display a callous disregard for everyone but himself, revictimizing individuals whose lives were shattered by his own misguided actions,”
