Up next is the pride of the African continent: the Nigerian Navy. It is currently considered to be Africa’s biggest Navy as it consists of almost a thousand personnel and coast guards. They were called the Nigerian Marines before they receive a generous budget and upgrades from the government. But why does it belong to this list of the most significant naval forces?
The Nigerian government sends a total defense budget of $2.3 billion to its Nigerian Navy. Despite this seemingly inferior budget when compared to other countries, they have quite an impressive number of naval assets. In total, the country boasts 75 naval ships, along with four frigates and 93 patrol crafts.
