While Myanmar’s navy may be a fairly recent addition to the nation’s defense force, they have already hired and trained almost 19,000 well-equipped naval personnel. An impressive feat, especially when they are currently considered one of the most formidable maritime forces to exist in the world today.
What’s more impressive is that they did this with a conservative defense budget of $2.4 billion. The nation has two mine warfare vessels, five frigates, and three corvettes, with a total of 155 naval assets.
South Korea
When the Republic of Korea Navy was formed on November 11, 1945, South Korea cemented their reputation as a force no one should mess with. Today, it is the most tenured and the oldest division in the Armed Forces of South Korea.
Compared to the somewhat mysterious force that is North Korea, South Korea is a friendly and beautiful nation. But don’t let the K-pop fever fool you because military-wise, they won’t back down in a fight, especially when it comes to securing their coastal borders. The nation means business with 12 frigates, 12 destroyers, one aircraft carrier, 14 corvettes, 16 submarines, and 69 patrol crafts. The list doesn’t end there as they have 166 naval assets and a total defense budget of $40 billion.
