For a country that has a coastline stretching up to 1,000 km (620 miles), it’s imperative to build a strong navy. This is why Algeria’s Naval force has eight frigates, eight submarines, 43 patrol crafts, and a mine warfare vessel for a total of 85 naval assets.
The Algerian Navy has 30,000 soldiers trained to protect their country in the seas. The total defense budget allocated by the government for the maritime force is $10.6 billion. A fun fact about the Algerian Navy is that they were built and organized with the assistance of the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
