In 2017, Daisy worked on the national campaign SafeBAE — Safe Before Anyone Else. She was only 14 when she revealed that Matthew Barnett, a teen boy in her hometown, sexually assaulted her. Afterward, she was left intoxicated, wearing only a T-shirt, for hours outside her home in sub-freezing temperatures.

Her accusation led to a felony sexual assault charge that was later dropped. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, saying that their sexual act was consensual.
