An absentee parent could cause a lot of self esteem issues, and it’s something that could definitely mark you. Alicia Keys’ father, Craig Cook, left when she was only two years old. She wrote a letter to her father as a coping mechanism when she was only 14 years old.
She knew back then that she wanted “nothing to do with” her estranged father.
