By | March 27, 2020

R. Kelly is currently incarcerated at Metropolitan Correctional Center, Chicago and according to his lawyer, soap and hand sanitizers are limited inside the prison. Legal documents also reveal that inmates are kept in small cells with a cellmate which makes social distancing really difficult.

“While the facility does have hand sanitizer available on the visiting floor, the single large bottle has a sign that says “STAFF ONLY” on it. The single dispenser next to the restroom appears to be non-alcohol-based sanitizer, as it is the same dispenser that was in place prior to the coronavirus outbreak, and detention facilities consider alcohol-based sanitizer to be contraband.”

As per the legal documents, R. Kelly’s age and existing health issues he is eligible to be released on bail.

“The health risk to Mr. Kelly, because of his age and existing health issues, especially considering the conditions at the MCC, necessitates his release on bail,” the document said.
