Tekashi’s lawyer Lance Lazzaro revealed that Hernandez Sr. has been an absconding father since Tekashi was born. The last time Tekashi saw his father was at age 9. At one point, the rapper’s mother allowed Hernandez Sr. to live with the family however, she kicked him out after she discovered him doing heroin in front of the kids.
Hernandez Sr. didn’t get a chance to speak to his son in person at the court but he did talk to the reporters outside the court and expressed that he is glad that Tekashi is safe in there.

“I feel glad that he’s safe in there,” Hernandez Sr. told reporters. “Because in there, nothing is going to happen. Outside, they’re going to try to kill him because of all the stuff that he was saying. It’s a scary situation. He’s a target.”
