For now, we’ll just focus on the 10 Best Dressed.

The Met Gala was underway on Monday for the 2023 edition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Black stars took over the red carpet at the Met Gala, whose theme was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” the famous designer at Chanel, Fendi, and his own eponymous line. The event aimed to raise funds for The Met’s Costume Institute.

1. Halle Bailey

Halle Bailey, the upcoming Ariel in the live-action Disney movie, was truly a vision at this year’s Met Gala. The actress (and singer) shined on the red carpet wearing a lace Gucci dress, a dramatic coat, and heels, very on-theme with this year’s requirements.

2. Michaela Coel

Actress Michaela Coel wowed everyone as she arrived on the red carpet in a sheer, brown-gold sheath dress. Embellished with pearls, as well as silver, champagne and gold colored gem stones, fixed in constellations about her body. The dress was a custom design by Schiaparelli Couture. The actress was styled and collaborated on by ELLE UK‘s own Associate Fashion Editor Georgia Medley

3. ASAP Rocky and Rihanna

As you might have expected, the expecting power couple shone bright like a diamond at this year’s Met Gala, too. The two arrived fashionably late at the event, but it was worth it. Rihanna was quite a flower vision, wearing a white Valentino dress and hood. Meanwhile, the rapper wore a Gucci ensemble. He had a black blazer, a white collared dress shirt, and a high-low red plaid pleated kilt layered over a pair of bedazzled baggy jeans, which resembled an outfit that Lagerfeld once wore to close out the Chanel runway in 2004).

4. Naomi Campbell

No one would expect Naomi Campbell to be anything but glamorous on the red carpet and she has done it again. The famous supermodel wore molten pink gown from Chanel’s spring/summer 2010 couture collection.

5. Keke Palmer

Actress Keke Palmer attended her first Met Gala since giving birth to a baby boy in February. And she looked absolutely amazing, wearing a white strapless, second-skin Sergio Hudson gown, wowing everyone.

6. Russell Westbrook

Los Angeles Clippers’ star Russell Westbrook turned heads on the red carpet with his insane Bode ‘fit. He donned an off-white oriental-inspired jacket with a unique four-pocket design. The striking attire displayed Westbrook’s flair for fashion.

7. Myke Wright and Lizzo

Myke Wright and Lizzo were very much the power couple on the red carpet and the two were incredibly elegant for their awesome night out. The “Juice” singer wore a black Chanel outfit with a pearl bodice and Jimmy Choo shoes, with her beau dressed all in black. During the event, Lizzo also surprised everyone with a shimmer-filled surprise performance.

9. Yara Shahidi

Black-ish actress Yara Shahidi couldn’t miss from our list. And she might’ve played Tinker Bell, but she was full-on Ariel with her mermaid-like gown this year. Yara wore a custom Jean Paul Gaultier gown with Cartier jewelry and Jimmy Choo shoes.

10. Cardi B

Cardi B debuted grey hair at the event and had not just one, but two different looks to honor Karl Lagerfeld. One of them was a structured ballgown by Chenpeng Studio, which had a white shirt collar and tie, transitioning into a fitted black sweetheart bodice adorned with silver studs. The full black skirt featured a quilted overlay a la Chanel’s Boy Bag, and was covered in huge sculptural rosettes.
