In April 2017, just days after he was acquitted, Aaron was found dead in his prison cell. The 27-year-old former football player hung himself with a bedsheet. His fiancè Jenkins-Hernandez said that his sexuality should not have been included in the documentary.

During the interview with Dr. Oz, his brother described the physical, emotional, and sexual abuse Aaron faced. He said, “He had a lot of things happen, both good and bad people think they know about my brother, but they really don’t. They know what they saw in the news, but they don’t know all the struggles he faced.”
