The Giant Sinkhole
This humongous sinkhole opened up in the northern part of Guatemala after being hit by tropical storm Agatha. It may look magnificent from behind a computer screen, but the damage it has done to the capital city has been devastating and catastrophic. The 65-foot wide and 300-foot deep sinkhole swallowed an entire street, a three-story building, and a house.
Also falling into the abyss were at least 120 victims. Sadly, 53 people are still missing from the collapse. Apparently, though, it was not only the storm that caused the sinkhole. Sewer pipe leakages and the Pacaya Volcano eruption are also responsible for the unfortunate incident.
