The Melting Building
Don’t worry, folks, the building in this image is not in the process of melting. The building is not actually distorted either, so there’s no need to be concerned for its residents. It’s not Photoshopped either if that was your next thought. Say hello to the Hausmannian Building which resides on Georges Andes V Avenue in Paris, France.

What gives this structure its distinct identity is its mural that’s printed onto canvas using the “trompe l’oeil” (meaning “optical illusion”) style. Basically, trompe l’oeil is a form of art using paint or photography that creates an illusion by warping and playing with dimensions. The mural is merely a facade for the building that was being reconstructed at the time this picture was taken. It is absolutely the most imaginative way of disguising an eyesore from the naked eye. In fact, it’d be a shame to tear it down once the building is complete.
