Battle of Kursk
The Battle of Kursk took place on the Eastern Front from July to August of 1943, between the forces of Russia and Germany. The Germans launched their offensive in Operation Citadel, and the results made for a massive turning point in the war.
Realizing Defeat
The battle was the first time in World War II that a German offensive was countered before they were able to make even a dent in the defenses of their enemies. The Soviet government had early warning that Germany was planning an attack and were able to build an effective defense strategy that nipped the Nazi offensive in the bud.
