Putting Out The Flames
Bombing raids were regularly carried out by Nazis during World War II, particularly in British cities like London. It was a move on Germany’s part to try to gain control of the airspace as they prepare to take over all of England.
Fighting The Flames
Daylight attacks were easily countered by the British forces, prompting Germany to conduct nighttime raids instead. In this photo, you can see firefighters struggling to put out a blaze that resulted from one such bombing mission. Some cities were destroyed extensively, leaving them beyond recognition.
