World War II in Pictures: A Look at Our History

The Allied forces meant to liberate France from the Germans by breaching the five sectors along the coast of Normandy. One of the sectors was known as Omaha Beach, and the attack that took place on the 6th of June 1944 was meant to be carried out a day earlier.

Hell On Earth

Due to bad weather conditions, US troops had to wait for the weather to clear. This picture shows that the weather didn’t improve much on the day of their attacks. Luckily, the American soldiers were able to hold their ground, helping the Allied forces clinch a win.
