The Eagle’s Nest
The Kehlsteinhaus, also known as the Eagle’s Nest, is a building that was constructed on top of Kehlstein’s summit during the Third Reich period. It was mainly used by Nazi Germany to hold government meetings and social gatherings. It is also where Hitler hosted his mistress.

Hitler is recorded to have visited the site fourteen times and it is now open to the public as a restaurant and tourist site. The photo shows a group of American soldiers lounging on the estate’s balcony, after Hitler was ousted from power.
