Victory in Moscow
Victory Day commemorates the surrender of the Nazi forces in 1945. Celebrations ran wild in Moscow, the capital of the Soviet Union, marking the end of a terrible period of death and destruction brought about by World War II.
Celebrating In Moscow
The war cost Russia the most casualties in terms of their soldiers and civilians than all the other countries who were involved (though, to be fair, this was due in large part to the despotic actions of then-leader Joseph Stalin). During the celebrations, the Red Square was lit up with fireworks and smiling faces as people applauded and cheered for their hard-won peace.
