The Aftermath of War
Nazi leader, Adolf Hitler, beleived the Jews were an inferior race that needed to be exterminated. This horrific ideology brought about the Holocaust that took place during World War II, wherein millions of Jews and other targeted groups were mass-murdered as a means of “purifying” the community.

After Effects

While thousands of people survived the Holocaust, they certainly didn’t come out if it unscathed. This photo of a young girl and her chalkboard artwork was taken in 1948. The girl (who was residing in a centre for disturbed youth) was asked to draw her understanding of “home.” The chaos in her creation reveals the inner turmoil of having grown up in and survived the camps.
