World War II in Pictures: A Look at Our History

The Royal Air Force
The 295th Squadron RAF (Royal Air Force) was a transport squadron during World War II. It was created on the 3rd of August 1942 with the task of dropping leaflets into France. It was the first unit to be equipped with glider tug and Armstrong Whitworth Albemarle mechanisms.

Airborne

In 1943, the squadron assisted in Operation Beggar, a supply mission in North Africa that took place from March to August of 1943. The photo, taken in October of 1942, shows some members of the 295th Squadron posing before their next mission.
