Col. Biddle Sr.
Col. Anthony Joseph Drexel Biddle was and expert in close combat, even authoring a book on different combat methods. He trained soldiers during World War I and II on effective hand-to-hand combat. His skills were based on his fencing style, a sport at which he was marvelously adept.

According to stories, Col. Biddle once instructed a group of Marines to point their bayonets at him, just so he could demonstrate how to disarm them all, and he did. The 1967 film, The Happiest Millionaire, was based on his story.
