Australia
Australia, being part of the British Empire, was one of the first countries to get involved in World War II. Initially at war with Nazi Germany, the country also declared war on Italy and Japan following attacks on other countries included in the Allied forces.
The Australians
Close to a million men and women from the country served in the armed forces, fighting against the Axis. Their military units were mainly assigned in Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean. This photo shows a bit of Australian humor along the El Alamein.
