Within Death’s Grasp
The Nazi extermination camps, also known as death camps, were the Germans’ way of killing millions of Jews and other targeted minorities in a systemic way. Many Holocaust victims were killed by means of gassing, either in chambers or vans. 90% of camp deaths involved Jews.

Rescued

The gas machines were being utilized right up until the last moments of the war, and the Allied soldiers were able to rescue hundreds of people who were waiting to die in the camps. This photo shows Jewish women and children disembarking a train that was bringing them to one of the extermination camps.
