Humans are naturally affectionate beings and a lot of people love to keep and care for pets. Despite the destruction of World War II, the kinder aspects of human nature still survived, and our innate desire to care for other creatures was never far from the surface, even when the challenges were fierce.
Napping Kitten
If you think it’s impossible to have your own furry friend in the middle of war, take a look at this picture which shows a group of sailors caring for a baby cat. Apart from the affectionate smiles on their faces, it’s obvious they care for the kitten given that they even made a little kitten-sized hammock for it.
