Prisoners of War
Both the Germans and Japanese were known to treat their prisoners with violence and brutality. The Germans had different kinds of prison camps, depending on the category each captive fell under. Oflags were prisoner camps for military officers, while Stalags were for enlisted men.

Captured prisoners would have to go through a transit camp before being assigned to a particular place. There, the prisoner would have to undergo interrogation and give their details. Taken in 1944, this photo shows German prisoners of war in France.
