Dealing with the Dead
Throughout history, there have been several wars and conflicts that resulted in high death tolls. During ancient times, the dead were stripped of their possessions and just left to nature’s biological processes. However, circumstances were quite different during the time when World War II was fought.

Burying The Dead

At the time, burying the dead was essential, not only as a sign of respect, but also for sanitation purposes. This gravesite holds an American soldier who was buried by the enemy. While the grave remains anonymous, at least the man beneath it got a decent burial.
