Cheers to Freedom
Belgium was completely liberated from the German forces on 4th February 1945, though the Belgian government had regained some power about five months earlier. The country had been under the German rule since May of 1940, but the 2nd Canadian Division began operations to free Belgium in September of 1944.

Belgian Beer

This photo shows Canadian soldiers enjoying the success of their operations with a glass of Belgian beer. Belgium is famous for their delicious beer, the brewing of which is as much an artform as it is a tradition. From the precision of the process, to the yeast used, and to the glass in which it is served, Belgian beer makes for a unique experience.
