Kamikaze Attacks
Kamikaze were part of Japan’s military aviation attack units who conducted suicide attacks against naval vessels of the Allied forces. This method was considered to be more effective in destroying warships than traditional air attacks. Kamikazed aircraft contained explosive missiles which the pilot would then crash into the ships of their enemies.

Close Kamikaze Call

While Kamikaze attacks were a frightening thought, especially for those stationed in the Pacific, the pilots weren’t successful all the time. Historians have revealed only 19% of the attacks were deemed successful. Take, for example, this Japanese plane that tried to pull off a Kamikaze attack but ended up getting shot down by the Allies.
