Scotty – beam me up! While this may look like something out of a science fiction movie, this is actually a view of the past headquarters of the Bulgarian Communist Party. On the outside, it looks very futuristic, and the inside isn’t far off.
The building, shaped like a flying saucer, was used for a decade between 1981 and 1991. After the Soviet Union fell apart, the party collapsed too, and no–one took responsibility for the building. Although there are plans to restore it, it stays empty and abandoned at present.
