Back when this Methodist Church was being used in 1926, it had 3,000 members in its community. The property where the church stands was worth $1,000,000 at the time, which equates to $13,000,000 today. It was considered one of the most expensive buildings during that time.
As time passed, the employment rate in Indiana started to fall while the crime rate increased. This prompted residents to move away from town. It became completely desolate in the 1980s and remains that way (for the most part) to this day. Whether another religion will buy the old church soon, only time will tell.
