The Smartest Presidents in American History

Andrew Johnson – IQ 138.9
The vice president under Abraham Lincoln assumed the presidency following the latter’s assassination. Andrew Johnson supported the Union but did not, in any way, make efforts to give freed slaves the right to vote. Because of his approval to implement “black codes,” Johnson became the first US president to be impeached.

With a relatively high IQ, Johnson was criticized for being racist. The House attempted to remove him from office but was unsuccessful in doing so. He served as the 17th president of the United States from 1865-1869, which meant dissatisfaction for the people.
