Rutherford B. Hayes – IQ 146.3
Despite having an IQ of 146.3, Rutherford B. Hayes almost wasn’t president at all. Considered a Civil War hero, Hayes was nominated by the Republicans but came up short in electoral votes as the favor went to Democrat Samuel Tilden. Due to a technicality, however, Hayes became the 19th President of the United States.

Hayes is remembered as a war hero who pushed for policy reforms and objected to slavery. His significance may not have been greatly felt in the US, but to the Paraguayans, he will always be a national hero. 60 percent of their land was returned due to Hayes’ negotiation of a border dispute between Paraguay and Argentina.
