Martin Van Buren – IQ 146
Martin Van Buren, the 8th US president, is greatly known for being the founder of the Democratic Party. Holding an impressive IQ of 146, anyone would expect his policies to have been extraordinary. However, they were found to be sadly lacking. He failed to secure a second presidential term after underwhelming the populace.
In 1840, the Whigs ridiculed Van Buren, calling him “Martin Van Ruin” due to his military records. He was succeeded by William Henry Harrison who didn’t do a whole lot better. These early presidents were considered thoroughly uninspiring during their service in the White House.
