Films like Saw prove that horror movie production doesn’t have to break the bank to become a success. The 2004 horror movie was filmed within a span of just a few days on a low budget, but it ended up launching an entire franchise with seven sequels in all, making it a new Halloween tradition for most horror fans.

The screenplay was written by Leigh Whannell and directed by James Wan, a partnership that proved to be the start of something successful. Billy the Puppet has become one of the most popular horror figures in cinema, being the face of John Kramer, the main antagonist in the franchise.
